The weather was so bad that it was decided we should return to school by train from Menai Bridge Station. It was so cold even at mid morning, but those scarves and heavy winter bottle green coats kept our bodies warm - our legs and feet however were freezing (30 denier crepe nylons did nothing to warm our legs) No hats you note - vanity urged us to remove them, after all we were having our photo taken with a 'Box Brownie'. My father said 'CHEESE' and we smiled obligingly! The journey was uneventful apart from missing our connection at Afon Wen, another cold wait in the Waiting room using our time to test our 'genol' ready for a test the following day - first day of Spring term 1963 . Arrived late in Dolgelley just in time for High Tea.

Final school reunion when 6 of us met at The Golden Lion Hotel for lunch before attending the meeting at school in the afternoon. Arrangements were for it to be held in the Hall but there were so many OG's we had to be accommodated in the gym. The atmosphere was one of confusion - why had the school closed without much notice........a sad day for all.

George Lewis, a baker in Dolgellau and a former railway man.The bakery was owned by David Rowlands. Mr Rowlands was well known as a chapel choir master in the town. The bakery, situated near St Mary's church, was largely taken up by a huge and ancient oven. A visit was a Saturday treat, we would buy fresh Chelsea buns- just the best! The warm bread rolls we ate on Sunday mornings for breakfast, dripping with honey, were well worth cycling back for after early morning communion. In this picture you can see jam tarts and fairy cakes, the ancient oven and Mr George Lewis.
