Jan 1963 - Returning to School - last rail journey before the Beeching cuts.
l-r Gill Williams; Eryl Williams; Nesta Wynn Jones. The weather was so bad that it was decided we should return to school by train from Menai Bridge Station. It was so cold even at mid morning, but those scarves and heavy winter bottle green coats kept our bodies warm - our legs and feet however were freezing (30 denier crepe nylons did nothing to warm our legs) No hats you note - vanity urged us to remove them, after all we were having our photo taken with a 'Box Brownie'. My father said 'CHEESE' and we smiled obligingly! The journey was uneventful apart from missing our connection at Afon Wen, another cold wait in the Waiting room using our time to test our 'genol' ready for a test the following day - first day of Spring term 1963 . Arrived late in Dolgelley just in time for High Tea.
