<p>Three napkins complete with name tapes and original napkin ring holder. Used at all mealtimes and keeping at bay at least some of the schoolgirl 'grot' that inevitably accumulated on skirts and gymslips.
I can't recall gymslips or skirts being included in the weekly items sent to the laundry in Dolgellau.

Enid Evans, a boarder at the school has written washing up instructions including the use of hot water and a little soap. 'Use a little washing soda if the plates are greasy.Steep pudding dishes and milk jugs in cold water'. Washing and drying and putting away instructions follow. One year we made a cricket pitch hat for DBL to wear on the school birthday at lunch. An entirely rational choice when you consider that A)DBL was a keen cricketer and B) we all had to play cricket. This cartoon does not represent DBL, the young artist did not know her.If he had done he would have known that mugs and sandwiches were not quite her style even with the crusts cut off!
