Note from the editor :It has been suggested that this photograph could have been taken on a sponsored walk. The 1970 school magazine records a 'marathon walk of 24 miles'in the summer of 1969. The 'walk was a great success with more than two-thirds of the girls completing the total distance' ( what happened to those who didn't make it is not recorded!) £1,200 was raised for the School Development Fund.- Uploaded by:Menna

The walk started at DWS, up to the Cader Road, past the Gwernan Lake Hotel, past the Creggenan Lakes over to Llanfihangel Y Pennant, down around Tal Y Llyn lake, up the Pass and (for one walker at least) back over Cader foothills and down over Tabor. For others staying on the main road around the Cross Foxes and back to Dolgellau. Phew!
