A page from the July 1919 school magazine lists items 4 to 13 on a concert programme. It illustrates the kind of entertainment DWS girls provided to war wounded patients at Caerynwch.

'Let the Great Big World keep Turning','There's a Big Lot of Sunshine Coming Soon' and 'Goodbye-ee' were popular songs at the time. All were composed during the First World War

The programme included a violin solo by Myfanwy Williams. Myfanwy has also written about what happened on October 12th 1918 when a small party of mistresses and girls went to the hospital to entertain the wounded. They either walked to Caerynwch or travelled in Miss Lawford's or Dr John Jones' car.

The concert was 'a great success'. Afterwards 'girls and soldiers sat alternately round three tables. Miss Maslin's shortbread was in great demand while French conversation flowed freely. One sergeant was heard to say, "Passez le sucre," and then "Passez le ...... oh pass me a sandwich!"

After tea, the girls performed a few more items and then it was the soldiers' turn to give a concert..... (see Related Item to read the rest of this account)
