Beginner's swimming prize, 1961

A book token awarded to Sue Crowther - the "Beginner's" prize for swimming a length in the pool at Glyn Malden, Summer Term 1961. Anyone else who remembers swimming in that pool will know that this was no mean feat, as it was fed by a freezing cold mountain stream.

Yes Sue, I learnt to swim there, I remember the ice cold and running back to the house afterwards, completely numb with cold. Definitely not an enjoyable experience! Did the games teachers ever get in with us?
