This image shows the pool, the changing room and the benches at the side - with two relatively warmly clad spectators. Presumably they have been excused games. The school would assemble to watch annual 'House' swimming and diving competitions. Most pupils in this picture appear to be trying to keep warm while awaiting their turn to swim.
