I remember Investiture Day was declared a public holiday for all schools in Wales. As an English girl I recall feeling a bit smug that everyone else in England had to go to school - but I was allowed to go home for the day! As I lived more than 2 hours journey from the school did that mean that we were allowed an overnight stay at home - I don't remember...
