Parti Deuddeg
Members of the school choir took part in the Youth Choir which sang at the National Eisteddfod of Wales in 1949. Twelve pupils in the 5th and 6th forms, known as Parti Deuddeg ('Party of Twelve') won with the entry ‘Y mae afon’ (There is a river) by Daniel Protheroe. They were trained by the late Menna Carrington Jones, the music teacher at DWS from 1948 – 1951. She is in this photo (5th from left)
A participant, Bidi Davies, (3rd from right) has written about this event in the story which is related with this image.
