Enid Evans, a boarder at the school has written washing up instructions including the use of hot water and a little soap. 'Use a little washing soda if the plates are greasy.Steep pudding dishes and milk jugs in cold water'. Washing and drying and putting away instructions follow. The dishes should have a 'bright polish'. At the bottom of the page instructions for 'how to wash wood' begin. Page digitised in Dolgellau Record Office (DWS archive)

Some things never change - I was teaching these rules in Domestic Science aka Home Economics (which changed to Food Technology in 1990) to 1st years aka yr 7 from 1960s right thro' to 2006 when I retired.
