We understand Helen started to work in the DWS kitchens aged 17. Coming originally from Caernarfon she lived in 'San', a tin roofed building by the school bridge. In a very real sense, she was also a boarder and the same age or younger than some of the pupils. She recalls very happy times at DWS. Helen had no idea what we used to call some of the dishes prepared in the kitchen and laughed when she discovered the Glossary on this website.Helen does remember the bucket in this picture was full of water!
