A Midsummer Night's Dream Diary Entry 1965
A diary entry written the night before a performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream, 20 July 1965. The rehearsal took place three days before the end of term. Note "Jack Robinson" scrawled at the top of the page with all but the last three letters crossed out. Jack Robinson was written on each blackboard twelve days before the end of term and, no doubt, in other diaries too. Each day a letter would be ceremoniously rubbed out. "Bombshell" refers to Mrs Boshell, the drama teacher. Note: "We were dead chuffed" is typical school language at the time. In this case it signifies pleasure on being praised .
