Mary Deighton, Iona Jones and Ann Lloyd on a walk 1964

Four girls on a compulsory walk. We do not know where this photo was taken or the identity of the fourth girl. They are probably all in the Upper Fourth . Iona wears her gym slip four inches above the knee when kneeling (a school rule))and her long hair is tied in bunches, another school rule.

Compulsory weekend walks in 'crocodiles' were the order of the day. Walking routes took us to Llanfacreth, Torrent Walk, Llanelltyd, Traction Engine, Plantation, and somewhere called Paradise, which I think was up Cader Road.

I think this picture shows from left to right: Anne Lloyd Davies (me), Susan Davies Mary Deighton and Iona Jone. I remember the weekend walks which were sometimes pretty gruelling in the winter months.
